API Spec 5L Pipeline Steel Coil Plate

API Spec 5L Pipeline Steel Coil Plate
API Spec 5L generally refers to the standard for pipeline steel, including pipeline pipes and pipeline steel coil plates. According to the manufacturing method, pipeline steel pipes are divided into seamless pipes and welded steel pipes. Commonly used pipe types include spiral submerged arc welded pipes (SSAW), straight seam submerged arc welded pipes (LSAW), electric resistance welded pipes, etc. Seamless steel pipes with a diameter less than 152 mm are usually selected.

API 5 pipeline steel coils and plates refer to steels with special requirements for transporting oil, natural gas and other pipelines.

Common grades under API Spec 5L pipeline steel standards are GR.B, X42, X46, X52, X56, X60, X70 and X80. API Spec 5L steel plate manufacturers have developed steel grades for X100 and X120 pipeline steels. Steel pipes of higher grade steel grades have relatively higher requirements for raw materials and production, and strictly control the carbon equivalent between different grades of steel.

API Spec 5L steel plate application:
API Spec 5L specifies the manufacture of two product levels (PSL1 and PSL2). PSL refers to the product specification level formulated for the API 5L standard. The pipeline specification levels are divided into two categories: PSL1 and PSL2. For pipeline standards, pipelines of PSL1 and PSL2 have different levels of quality requirements. API Spec 5L pipe steel plates are used to manufacture pipeline steel pipes for extracting oil, steam and water from the ground in the oil and gas industry.
