Common problems and preventive measures in Larson steel sheet pile construction:
1、 Leakage and surging sand
The first phenomenon: When the excavation of the foundation pit is halfway through, it is found that the steel sheet piles are leaking, mainly at the joints and corners, and some places are also filled with sand.
Second reason analysis:
A. Larson steel sheet piles have many old piles that have not been calibrated, repaired or thoroughly inspected before use, resulting in poor interlocking at the water locking point and easy leakage at the joints.
B. To achieve closed closure at the corner, there should be a special form of corner pile, which needs to undergo cutting and welding processes and may cause deformation.
c. When installing Larson steel sheet piles, the locking ports of the two sheet piles may not be tightly inserted, which does not meet the requirements.
D: The verticality of Larson steel sheet piles does not meet the requirements, resulting in water leakage at the lock mouth.
Third preventive measure:
Old steel sheet piles need to be corrected before installation. Correction should be carried out on the platform, and methods such as hydraulic jacks or fire drying can be used to correct bent and deformed steel sheet piles. Prepare the purlin bracket to ensure that the steel sheet piles are vertically driven and the wall surface of the driven steel sheet piles is straight. To prevent displacement of the centerline of the steel sheet pile lock mouth, a clamp plate can be installed at the steel sheet pile lock mouth in the direction of pile driving to prevent displacement of the sheet pile. Due to the inclination of the steel sheet pile during driving and the presence of gaps at the locking joint, it is difficult to seal the joint. One solution is to use irregular sheet piles (which is more difficult), and the other is to use axis sealing method (which is more convenient).
